Well, the way I understand this, the idea for the exhibition comes from the shopping mall, not LEGO Hungary. SUGÁR was the first "western" shopping mall in Budapest.  Several new malls opened in the past years, so the owner(s?) of SUGÁR decided to remodel the building.  One of the changes that it has an event hall now.  To promote this event hall, they decided to run some events on their own.  This spring, we have been approached by an event organizer company, they wanted to know if we would be interested in participating in a LEGO show.  We said yes, but when we learned that the room is over 1000 square meters, we told them that we don't have that much LEGO to display.  So their next move was to approach LH.  LH liked the idea, but with some conditions.  For example, the event had to be free for the public, etc. etc.  Finally, everyone said OK, but we decided that the event will be postponed until the fall.  (This was good for us, as we had more time to build.)

LH provided the following:
- Interactive showcases (Pirates and Vikings)
- Play tables
- Star Wars, City, Bionicle display
- large LEGO statues
- flags etc.
- Cars for the RC Race

What we presented:
- Contents for glass showcases (9V Trains, Western, Classic Space, Homemaker)
- LEGO Pirates diorama
- LEGO Star Wars collection
- Moonbase
- Mosaics
- Lánchíd - Sikló - Alagút ( Chainbridge - Funicular - Tunnel) diorama
- RC Trains
- Town layout
- Technic truck

We have not done it for free, but it is the event organizer who hired us, not LH.  We have receives some LEGO sets from LH, as a token of their appreciation.  The event organizer provided a large truck but we provided the labor for the packing/moving/setup/etc. of our stuff.  The event organizer provided the showcases, the tables, the side-skirts etc.

There are some more pics here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=282890

The event was running for 4 days and they estimated the number of visitors above 16000.  (But 15000 for sure.)

Thanks,
Akos

Tolko z histórie. ;D :)
